Terms of Service
1. What Dictabook is
Dictabook is a writing tool that lets writers dictate prose, have it transcribed and tidied, and export the result as a manuscript file. We are not a publisher. We don't claim any rights to your work.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google. We store your email address and the identifier Google gives us. You may delete your account at any time by emailing hello@dictabook.app — we will erase your manuscripts, recordings, and account data within 30 days.
3. Your content
Everything you record, write, or generate inside Dictabook belongs to you. We store it so we can show it back to you and let you export it. We do not use your manuscripts to train AI models, sell to third parties, or share with anyone other than the AI providers strictly necessary to fulfil your transcribe / cleanup requests (currently OpenAI, on no-training-by-default terms).
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Dictabook to generate content depicting real people without consent, content involving minors in sexual situations, instructions for real-world harm, or material that violates applicable law. Beyond that, your fiction is your fiction — including dark, explicit, or uncomfortable subject matter that adult fiction commonly contains.
5. Service availability
Dictabook is provided "as is". We aim for high uptime but make no guarantees. Plan for occasional outages of the transcription or cleanup services (they depend on third-party APIs we don't control). Your raw audio recordings are buffered on your device so they survive a service outage; see the offline-recording feature.
6. Beta status
Dictabook is currently in invite-only beta. Features may change. Pricing is not finalised. By using the service during beta you accept that things will move around.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Dictabook's liability for any loss arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding three months. We are not liable for lost manuscripts, missed deadlines, or consequential damages. Back up your work — the Export to EPUB/TXT feature exists for this.
8. Changes
These terms may change. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
